The Level 3 Alpine and Glacier course is another continuation to our four level program. Athletes will be using the skills obtained from the levels 1 and 2 courses to build on the Alpine and Glacier component. Alpine Peak climbs/descents and glacier travel/descents are the main focus. Areas used are high alpine areas around Lake Louise, the Ice field’s Parkway and Roger’s Pass. The exact location is dependent conditions and is determined a few days prior to course.

Prerequisite: Level 2 Ski Tour

Course topics include:

  • Intro to Alpine objectives

  • Glacier travel

  • Intro to Ice, Rock and Snow anchors

  • Crevasse rescue

  • Rope systems

  • Snow Climbing

  • Intro to Ski Mountaineering

    Length: 4 days. Can be done in two weekends.
