Lake O'hara Summer Program

World famous Lake O'hara is located 10 minute west of Lake Louise in Yoho National Park. It truly is a beautiful and pristine area. Lake Ohara is accessed by bus from the Lake Ohara parking. Limited space is available and it is best to reserve months in advance.

Hikes around Lake O'hara

There are unlimited options for hiking around Lake Ohara. From beginner to experienced. The Alpine circuit is a good option for more adventures people. If your relaxed, heading around the lake and up to Lake Oesa is a good trip. Breath taking views of famous peaks such as Mount Victoria, Hungabee, Huber and Biddle can be viewed no matter your ability. There is also an option of spending the night at the ACC Abbot Pass Hut. From this hut, I regularly guide Mount Victoria, Huber and Lefroy. The Abbot Pass Hut is a fine destination in itself.

One hiking option that I truly recommend is the Opabin Pass to Moraine Lake Tour. This hike is at the top of my list as one of my favourite hikes anywhere in the world. This hike starts at O'hara, gently ascends over the Opabin glacier and down into the upper reaches of the Tokumm/Prospectors Valley. From here cutting up and over the Wenkchemna Pass to Moraine Lake ends the tour. A big hike! About 8 hours.
